Techniques
One major technique that probably already been mentioned is the technique of foreshadowing to what could happen to some of the characters, mostly death. With the conversation between Iago and Othello in which he plans to kill Desdemona, Iago encourages it.
Another one that is not used as much is symbolism. The handkerchief could represent is the trust Othello has in Desdemona. It constantly gets shifted around and really does not stay in one place.

Paragraph
Othello:
Get me some poison, Iago, this night. I'll not expostulate with her, lest her body and beauty unprovide my mind again. This night, Iago.
Iago: Do it not with poison. Strangle her in her bed, even the bed she hath contaminated." 179
I chose this passage for a lot of reasons, but mostly because it is so dark and Shakespeare like. It starts to enter this dark side of Othello with the fact that he would kill Desdemona just because he cheated on her. And it also kind of foreshadows probably to what might happen later in the book, someone dying.

Casting
Othello: I would cast Will Smith as Othello because he is just talented in so many regions and he can be a great serious actor. And he's cool and at times romantic.
"I will round unvarnished tale deliver of my whole course of love." Act one, scene three. 106
Iago: I would cast Johnny Depp as Iago because both Iago and Johnny Depp have a dark, evil side to them to a certain extent.
"I hate the Moor. My cause is hearted; thine hath no less reason. Let us be conjunctive in our revenge against him" Act one, scene three. 53
Desdemona: I would cast Kate Winslet because in every movie I have ever watched her in she's a really nice and caring person.
"I am very sorry that you are not well" Act three, scene three. 333
Emilia: I would cast Helen Bonham Carter because she is always evil.
"If it be not for some purpose of import, give't me again. Poor lady, she'll run mad when she shall lack it" Act three, scene three. 135

Othello #2
In this scene it constantly keeps showing on what I think seems like Iago is just taking advantage of Roderigo or just using him. We talked about this during class and it showed up again in 2.1. It kind of made me feel bad for Roderigo that he has no idea what Iago is really doing.

LOTF Journal Entry #3
The them I chose out of the segment I got was that isolation from civilization can cause you to develop animal like instincts. Jack starts to walk on all fours, oddly enough, and Golding starts to almost make him seem like an animal in which foreshadows to later. With him having an almost ferocious look in his eyes. Later in the book he also starts to lose all sense of common sense, and starts to rely a lot more on instinct.
